Welcome to 'How to Pitch'—a short online course from Kill Your Darlings on pitching.
This course is for those who are thinking about sending pitches or works-in-progress to publications—whether KYD or any other print or online publication. Whether you’re pitching for the first time or want to get an insider's insight into the publishing process, we've designed this workshop to assist you with putting your best foot forward.
You'll learn:
- What makes a good (and bad) pitch
- The do's and don'ts of pitching
- Pitching etiquette
- About the writing and editing process after your pitch is accepted
The course will take you 1-2 hours to complete, but can also be accomplished in short stages. This is a completely self-paced online course—you decide when you start and when you finish. We encourage you to approach this material not just as lessons to be finished once and for all, but also as a collection of resources to which you can return time and again.

Reminder: KYD members also receive a 10% discount all other KYD courses and bundles, plus further discounts throughout the year.
